From rskhanna@access.digex.net Fri May 27 14:19:35 EDT 1994 INS has been making some strange evidence requests in the Extraordinary Researcher Category (EB1). Examples: "Even though the evidence submitted meets the minimal requirements, submit additional evidence showing that the researcher is internationally famous." "Third party citations of alien's work are insufficient if they are merely bibliographic references or footnotes." "Mere submission of two or more items is not sufficient. The evidence must clearly demonstrate......" I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but folks, be prepared for an uphill battle for your EB1 (Employment Based first immigration category) petitions. No follow up mail on this topic please. P.S. Also, all those who sent me their DV1 questions, I have tried answering all the ones to which I knew the answers. Because of the essential simplicity of procedures, I have not educated myself on the details. You folks probably know more than I do. Please do not send me any DV1 mail. Thanks. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- LAW OFFICES OF RAJIV S. I recently went through the I-140 approaval under the "Outstanding Professor/ Researcher" category in one-pass. It went through like a textbook case - I submitted the wanted evidence, and INS Northern Center approved my I-140 petition in a rather short time frame *without asking for any additional clarifications*. For the benefit of others applying under this category, let me itemize the evidence I submitted: * A letter from my doctoral advisor, and another well-known researcher in my area about my area of specialization. * A letter from a person in the industry certifying the relevance of my credentials to the US "national economy and competitiveness" (Thanks to a suggestion from Mr. Rajiv Khanna to this effect); * A letter from a senior professor in my department certifying the credentials of the people who recommended me above. * About 5 proceedings papers, and 10 citations in the literature. * Letters from editors of a couple of journals for which I reviewed papers (with a pitch on the credentials of people asked to review papers!); also copies of reviews I did. * An University Teaching Award. * A letter from my dept. chairman saying I hold a tenure-track faculty posn, and other good things like my unique specialty(!), and the teaching award! * Description of a couple of conference sessions that I chaired. * Masters and Sc. D. Degree Ceritificates. Cheers, VK PS: Follow-ups to the net; Flames to /dev/null
